The facts

The complainant alleged that a neighbour had installed security cameras around his property including one fixed on the complainant's garage and partly his daughter's bedroom, in the context of a hostile dispute involving drug use, threats and an assault that hospitalised the complainant. The Police enquired, conducted a site visit, found eight CCTV cameras all rotating within the respondent's premises, viewed the recorder and found none of the cameras disturbing the complainant's privacy.

Orders and outcome

The Data Commissioner closed the enquiry to the satisfaction of all parties, finding that no breach of the Data Protection Act had occurred.
