The facts

The complainant alleged that CCTV cameras had been installed pointing at his house, specifically his bathroom and laundry. The Data Protection Office asked the Police to investigate and conduct a site visit. The Police reported one camera capturing the respondent's own yard and a second capturing a building the respondent owns, with no images captured inside the complainant's premises.

Orders and outcome

The Data Protection Commissioner decided that the enquiry had not disclosed the commission of an offence under the DPA and closed it to the satisfaction of all parties.
