The facts

The complainant alleged that his neighbour's CCTV cameras had audio recording, faced his main entrance, and captured his family's movements and possibly conversations. A Police site visit found one camera not working and the other capturing only the respondent's own main entrance, with nothing captured outside the respondent's premises. The complainant objected to closure, saying the cameras had been manipulated for the inspection; the respondent was summoned to give a written statement with evidence, which again showed the cameras were not capturing inside the complainant's premises.

Orders and outcome

The Data Protection Commissioner closed the enquiry to the satisfaction of all parties under the DPA.
