The facts

The complainant alleged that his neighbour had installed bullet-type cameras focused on his house and on the private road forming his main entrance, letting the respondent watch his comings and goings, plus six boundary-wall cameras able to capture passers-by and vehicles. The Data Protection Office asked the Police to investigate and conduct a site visit. The Police reported that the respondent's cameras were no longer facing the road or the complainant's premises.

Orders and outcome

The Data Protection Commissioner decided that the enquiry had not disclosed the commission of an offence under the DPA and closed it to the satisfaction of all parties.
