The facts

The complainant alleged that a neighbour had installed two 360-degree rotating CCTV cameras with audio recording facing her family's private property, without consultation and in bad faith, leaving the family feeling continuously monitored. A Police site visit found one camera pointing at the respondent's main entrance and one at the side of his house; on being informed of the complaint the respondent re-oriented the cameras away from the complainant's premises.

Orders and outcome

The Data Commissioner closed the enquiry to the satisfaction of all parties, finding that no breach of the Data Protection Act had occurred.
