The facts

The complainant alleged that a neighbour, previously warned by the Data Protection Office and made to remove CCTV cameras pointed at the complainant's yard and house, had reinstalled several cameras facing the family's premises, and enclosed photos as evidence; the complainant's own cameras, installed after a van theft, were said to capture none of the respondent's premises. Following the enquiry, the respondent's statement and evidence showed his CCTV camera was not taking images of the complainant's premises, as a previous Police report had also confirmed.

Orders and outcome

The Data Protection Commissioner closed the enquiry to the satisfaction of all parties under the DPA.
