The facts
A complainant told the CDP that an Orange Money account had been opened on her phone number without her consent and without prior information. The Commission found that Orange Finances Mobiles Senegal should have collected her consent beforehand, informed her formally of the purpose of the processing, and provided a way to object to the account opening.
Orders and outcome
On 23 December 2020 the CDP's sanction committee took note that the company declared it had ceased the unauthorised processing, pronounced a warning against Orange Finances Mobiles Senegal, informed it of its two-month recourse to the administrative chamber of the Supreme Court, and ordered publication of the warning decision in the Official Journal.
