The facts

The complainant alleged a breach of confidentiality and privacy through CCTV cameras installed around the ground floor of the residence by the occupier of the first floor, and asked for their removal. A Police enquiry found the respondent had installed the cameras in the open garage for the security of vehicles and that they captured no images towards the complainant's premises.

Orders and outcome

The Data Commissioner closed the enquiry to the satisfaction of all parties, finding that no breach of the Data Protection Act had occurred.
