Outcome
enquiry is closed to the satisfaction of all parties. Thus, no breach of the Data Protection Act has occurred.
The complainant, a coffee-shop owner, alleged that a neighbouring business had pointed two CCTV cameras directly at the shop and the pathway to its toilet with no signage, making customers uncomfortable and hurting trade. A Police site visit found one camera fixed towards the complainant's premises; on being informed of the complaint the respondent had a technician cover that camera with a dark spot so the complainant's premises were no longer within view.
Orders and outcome
The Data Commissioner closed the enquiry to the satisfaction of all parties, finding that no breach of the Data Protection Act had occurred.
