The complainant alleged that a person residing in the same yard had installed cameras in several locations without his consent, violating his family's privacy. The Police observed six operational cameras, found one fixed camera directed towards the complainant's staircase, and had the respondent voluntarily reposition it on the spot; the complainant then told the Police he did not wish to pursue the matter.
Orders and outcome
The Data Protection Commissioner closed the enquiry to the satisfaction of all parties under the enquiry provisions of the Data Protection Act 2017.
