The facts

The complainant alleged her in-law had installed a CCTV camera at the entrance of the respondent's kitchen facing the corridor to her private room, toilet and bathroom, capturing her day and night, recording conversations, and monitoring moments such as breastfeeding, with two small children also at risk. The Police site visit found the camera was installed inside the respondent's own house for her own security and for her children to monitor her health condition, and its placement inside the respondent's premises was not disputed.

Orders and outcome

The Data Protection Commissioner closed the enquiry to the satisfaction of all parties under the DPA.
