Anonymised respondent (the owner of a restaurant)

The complainant alleged that the respondent, a restaurant owner, had used the complainant's mobile number to send defamatory and insulting text messages unrelated to the business purpose for which the number was collected. The respondent initially denied the conduct but subsequently admitted sending the messages in response to the complainant's payment delays and negative reviews, and expressed willingness to apologise in writing. The complainant confirmed receipt of the written apology and withdrew the complaint, and the enquiry was closed.
