The facts

A worshipper complained that live web broadcasting of prayers from CCTV inside a mosque's prayer area violated his privacy and spiritual life. The mosque had broadcast Friday, Ramadhan evening and Eid prayers since May 2017, gave notice through signs inside the mosque, and proposed that worshippers who did not wish to be captured stand outside the two front rows covered by the cameras. The complainant did not attend a meeting or reply by the deadline.

Orders and outcome

The office was satisfied that appropriate measures protect the personal spiritual life of worshippers; the enquiry was closed and no breach found.
