The facts
The complainant alleged that a co-operative credit union let a simple member access secure parts of the office, official documents and members' files and sit in on loan committees, contrary to the society's own rules restricting attendance when loan applications are considered. The union answered that the person had been a member until April 2016 and was appointed consultant to the Board in May 2016, and the responsible ministry confirmed his services were approved at the annual general meeting of 6 March 2016, making him designated staff.
Orders and outcome
No breach of the Data Protection Act occurred and the enquiry was closed to the satisfaction of all parties.
