Anonymised respondent (college)
Corrective measures implemented; enquiry closed. DPO, 5 August 2011.
The facts
The complainant alleged that a college's CCTV cameras monitored his movements to and from his house. Site visits found two long-range cameras could capture the street and passing vehicles beyond the college walls. An enforcement notice was served during the enquiry requiring all cameras to be refocused within the college boundaries, and a follow-up site visit after the deadline confirmed proper signage and that every camera was fixed to film inside the perimeter only.
Orders and outcome
The Commissioner recorded that the corrective measures were implemented and the terms of the enforcement notice were observed, and reminded the respondent that non-compliance with the Act's processing provisions could lead to prosecution. Dated 5 August 2011.
