The complainant alleged that Multichoice Kenya Limited used his images for advertisement on its social media platforms and on several billboards within Nairobi county without his consent or justifiable cause. The ODPC dismissed the complaint against Multichoice and found the second respondent, the National Olympics Committee of Kenya, liable for failing to obtain valid consent for the commercial use of his image.
Orders and outcome
The complaint against the first respondent was dismissed. The second respondent was found liable and ordered to compensate the complainant KES 500,000. Dated 30 October 2024.
