The facts

The complainant alleged that on 21 November 2023 he received over 200 calls in less than half an hour from Ceres Tech Limited, trading as LemonCash, demanding payment of a loan he was not party to. Investigations found the numbers that contacted him did not belong to the respondent. The respondent obstructed the Data Commissioner by denying investigators access to its database during the site visit it had been notified of.

Orders and outcome

The complaint was dismissed, and a recommendation for prosecution was made against the respondent company's directors for obstruction of the Data Commissioner. Dated 2024.
