The facts
The complainant challenged an allegedly erroneous default listing after the Law Society of Kenya Sacco Limited, an interested party, settled another member's loan using his savings, a dispute he had also taken to the Cooperatives Tribunal. The Office found the credit information exchanged between Metropol Credit Reference Bureau and the Sacco had a legal basis under the Banking (Credit Reference Bureau) Regulations, and declined to adjudicate a matter whose crux was live before the Tribunal.
Orders and outcome
The complaint was dismissed, with liberty to relodge it once the Cooperatives Tribunal case concludes. Dated August 2023.
