The facts

Five complainants alleged that the respondent published their names and mobile phone numbers on his website cnyakundi.com without their consent, in an article levelling fraud allegations against them. The ODPC noted the respondent is not a journalist and therefore not bound by the Media Act code of ethics, and that the complaint raised questions of anonymity and gross white-collar-crime allegations of national and public interest requiring specialised investigation.

Orders and outcome

The complaint was referred to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for further investigations under the Act. Dated July 2023.
