Bridge Bank Group Côte d'Ivoire
Warning + formal notice (avertissement et mise en demeure). ARTCI (Autorité de Protection), 15 June 2023.
The facts
Following its control programme, the Autorite de Protection found that Bridge Bank Group was running business applications that process identifier data requiring prior authorisation, including the CIP payment-incident registry, the ORION account-opening application and the Bridge Touch online banking application, without having declared or obtained authorisation for the processing, and that earlier recommendations on its procedures had not been fully implemented. The bank had taken no steps to seek the required authorisations.
Orders and outcome
The Autorite de Protection issued a warning for non-compliance with the data protection law and a formal notice to cease all observed breaches within sixty days of receiving the decision, failing which one of the sanctions provided by the law would be pronounced. Sworn agents were directed to conduct controls to verify compliance, with the decision effective on notification. Dated 15 June 2023.
